Our Pork

We raise our pigs outside lots in the woods, or in an open shed with bedding. We also fence our garden after we have harvested most of our produce and turn pigs into it so they can clean up the old plants, and work up the soil.
Our pigs are crossbred (at least 50% Berkshire) raised without antibiotics or growth hormones.
Our son Tommy is moving one from one pen to another.

" Pigs treat us as equals. Never wrestle with pigs. You both get dirty and the pig likes it!"

Our Beef

Our beef calves are sourced from local farmers. We buy them as weened calves, pasture feed them and feed them hay until they are ready to finish out. We finish our beef with grain to get the top flavor and marbling. Our Farm to Table beef is raised without growth hormones or antibiotics.

" If you don't keep you cows happy they'll find greener grass on the other side of the fence!"

Our Sheep

Our sheep are a cross of Katadin and Dorper. These are hair sheep breeds that shed their own wool, so they require no shearing. During the growing season we move them around and let them clean up areas around bins, a few hillsides and around a pond. These animals are better suited for these areas than cattle. After weaning our lambs, we finish them with hay and grain.

Sheep depend on their shepherd for all their needs.

Pasture Raised Chicken

Our meat Chickens are Cornish Cross. We buy these as day old chicks and brooder them for about three weeks. After this we like to move them out on grass where we move them around several times a day to keep them in fresh grass. We are also really careful when we move them outside because a young chick is very fragile for the first month of it's life. Pasture Raised Chicken is a very seasonal item for us.

" We try not to count our chickens before they hatch!"
